It might seem like a strange title, but to me, this statement encapsulates everything I believe in and strive for as an electrician. I hope every electrician can say they’re proud of their work, but does their work and standards truly reflect that pride?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: every electrician is different. No two electricians are exactly alike, so it’s crucial for you, as the customer, to know what will work best for your needs. Let me explain in more detail.
Think about qualifications and experience. Some electricians become qualified through apprenticeships, while others take theoretical courses at college or university, and some complete short training programs. Regardless of the path taken, as long as they hold the necessary certification, they are qualified to work in your home.
I became an electrician through an apprenticeship. Fifteen years later, I’m still constantly learning and evolving. I firmly believe apprenticeships are the best way to train. I have nothing against those who train via other methods, but I genuinely believe that shadowing an experienced electrician while earning (albeit not a fortune) and not paying for training is the optimal route, with a higher likelihood of securing a job at the end.
In today’s climate, any young person considering an apprenticeship should be fully encouraged. Quick fixes are easy to sell, but real experience and knowledge come from continuous learning—not just from successes, but from mistakes as well. I’m grateful that I wasn’t on my own when I made those early mistakes; I had the support of a fully qualified and experienced electrician to guide me through and help me learn.
As a result of my apprenticeship, I gained valuable experience by working alongside other electricians. I learned the best methods, how to produce exemplary work, and how to select and use the best materials. Most importantly, I learned the art of customer satisfaction—leaving every customer happy to pay for work that is safe and meets high standards.
So why did I set up Dan Kennedy Electrical? Simply because I wanted to do more. I didn’t lack skills, knowledge, or experience, and I certainly didn’t do it for an easier life (I work harder than ever running my own business). I did it because I’m PROUD.
I’m proud of making each customer feel important, ensuring every job, no matter how small, meets their satisfaction, providing outstanding customer service, and never sitting back. Yes, I’m an electrician like many others out there, but I’m proud of my training and experience, and I hope my customers see that pride reflected in my work.
